antique early percussion rifle. This has been in our family ever since i can remember, over 60 years. It's 50'' long, half stock the wood is beautiful tiger striped maple, round barrel. it has nice engraving on the strike plate, very worn you can just see it, It also has the name john walker engraved on it.
There is a ramrod ( came loose from the barrel) and no maker's mark that we could identify.Has really great patina.
This doesn't have the ten cent piece just the name john walker.
WALKER, John— Unlocated. Flintlock Kentucky rifle with an 1835 ten-cent coin inlaid in cheek-piece. Marked on barrel "JOHN WALKER." i got this info from:Full text of "American gun makers including Supplement of AMerican gun makers" this rifle doesn't have the coin but the only information on john walker
